The Visual
Processing lab has a strong track record in transforming novel ideas into
successful research projects and into technology innovations, which contributes
to improving quality of life. We believe that understanding people¡¯s needs is
vital to developing successful future technologies. Our lab members are
devoting ourselves to designing and developing satisfying user interfaces and
visualization systems.
The VPLab was
first founded as Computer Graphics lab in 1992 by Prof. Yeong-Gil Shin who has
been leading the lab for 17 years. The main research area included 3D visualizations and image post-processing.
In 2008, Prof.
Jinwook Seo and Bohyoung Kim joined the lab to form the Visual Processing lab.
Since then, we have expanded our research area into human-computer interaction (HCI), information visualization (InfoVis), and visual perception.
Our primary activities include teaching and collaborative research with other scholars at prominent institutions such as Microsoft Research, Seoul National University Hospital, George Washington University and Children¡¯s Research Institute. As one of successful technology innovations, we developed a pioneering medical visualization software called Rapidia which was commercialized by INFINITT Healthcare Co., Ltd.
